Kishinev is the capital of the Republic of Moldova, a city of many centuries of history, a great administrative, cultural, political, economic and commercial center. The first historical records of the city are found in a 1436 letter to the head of the army of Moldova. The Soviet History of Localities reports that in 1466, according to a letter of grant from Stephen the Great to his uncle uncle Vlajekulu, the village of Kishinev was transferred to the possession of the village of Kishinev near the ancestor of Aliaisoara. For a long time, the Vlaiculai family owned this area.
The difficult period of the Ottoman yoke, the incessant raids of the Turks, the Crimean Tatars, as well as the growth of the tribes, weak economic development, the Boyal rule, and later the monarchy of the Romanovs of Yassy, heavily destroyed Kishinev.
After the Russo-Turkish Turks of 1812, the interdistrict territory of the Dnieper, Peruta, and Dune passes into the possession of Russia and is named Bassarabia. Kishinev became a Russian village, became a city, and in 1818 became the first city of Bassarabia, and in 1873 of the Bassarabian Governorate.
The first diagram of the city, made by the engineer Ozemidov, shows that in the beginning of the 19th century the city was a collection of sprawling clay houses covered with a roof of mumbo-jumbo. The planned construction of the city center began in 1818 according to the plan of construction made by Ozemidov. The first multi-storey buildings, wide streets, parks, squares, the Spiritual Seminary, the Orthodox Church of All Saints, the New Bazaar, and wells were built.
In the early 20th century, the first metal-working factories were built and the first railroads were opened in Kishinev. However, Kishinev did not become the capital of Moldova until 1940, after the formation of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Moldova.
When the Soviet Union collapsed, the city was declared the capital of the Republic of Moldova and retains this status to this day.
