In the north-central part of Nigeria lies the city of Kaduna, the capital center of a single province. It is home to a number of important railroad connections. This is why the present Kaduna is the center for the distribution, preparation, and transportation of agricultural products from areas close to the city. The iconic symbol of Kaduna is the cradle.
The city has a long history of craftsmanship in clay pots and textiles. Along with the traditional industries there are also machinery companies. They produce: Steel, petroleum products and aluminum. It is noteworthy that many of the citys streets are named after former rulers of the sultans and empires, as well as renowned heroes of the Civil War. For example, the road crossing the citys territory is named after Ahmadou Belle. Kaduna is known for its big track, floor club and racquetball club.
Modern Kaduna is considered a famous college town. It is home to a number of institutions of higher learning, including the University of Technology, the Ahamadou Böll University, the Institute of Aircraft Technology, and the State University.
The history of the Nigerian city dates back to 1913. It was founded by Englishmen. In 1917, Kaduna was transformed into the center of the then Northern region. It held a solid status until 1967.
In ancient times, the present area was inhabited by the Gurry people. For a long time, members of the people lived in the area now occupied by the city and its environs. In todays city, the number of guards is minimal. For the most part, they live in the surrounding areas.
Kaduna is like one of the European cities in terms of layout and design of its streets. In the central part of it, there are wide open spaces surrounded by the beige landscape. This is where the citys business district is located. A notable landmark is the former governors office. One of the modern buildings is the Radio and Television Building.
