In the southern Skåne region of Sweden lies the city of Malmö, which is connected to the city of Kopingen by a long bridge on the opposite side of the River Eresunen. Modern Malmo is a successful combination of an industrial city, a popular tourist destination and a cultural center. Modern constructions are surrounded by historical and architectural monuments. The Mälle is complemented by parks and quadrants. Here, the old Swedish parks are in high esteem. Particular attention is paid to the preservation of monuments and culture.

The first documentary sources about the existence of the city date back to 1270. Despite these assertions, archaeological evidence suggests that the site was inhabited earlier. In the Middle Ages, the town was called Malmöhauger and was owned by Denmark. In the 15th and 16th centuries the town was a thriving community. It soon became one of Denmarks largest settlements. In 1658, after the Treaty of Peace between Denmark and Sweden, Malmo came under the rule of the Kingdom of Sweden. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, the city developed as a center. Chemical, electrical, machinery, cement, and food processing industries began operating here. The fertile soils of the area and the favorable climate allowed for the production of a variety of crops.

The development of trade and tourism in the city was facilitated by a bridge across the Erewson River at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. The ancient city is a multicultural city. A large proportion of the citys inhabitants come from all over Asia, and the citys streets are adorned by the church, which was built in 1982 and was the first in Sweden.

The pleasant climate of the area favors the development of the beach resort. A special feature of Mallemö is the beach in the center of the town, called Ribbersberg, which has been awarded the Blue Flag for its environmental friendliness and comfort.

The holiday area has been awarded the Blue Flag.
