The city has on average about 980 mm (38.6 in) of precipitation per year, the large majority of which falls from June through September. Like the vast majority of Nigeria, Kano is very hot for most of the year, peaking in April. From December through February, the city is less hot, with nighttime temperatures during the months of December, January and February having average low temperatures of 14 to 16 °C (57 to 61 °F).
