The southeasternmost part of Bangladesh is the city of Chittagong, the center of the region and the capital of the county under the same names. It is a major port and industrial center. Here the chemical, automotive, petroleum refining, steel, branding and textile industries have all developed. There are agricultural processing, poultry, and fertilizer companies. The summer season is boring with frequent rains. ×Chittagong occupies the coast of the Bay of Bengal near the Karnapuli River. The urban area is represented by a rugged ruler with handicraft ponds.

Through the port area, leather goods, tea, clothing, jute and other merchandise are exported. The convenient and advantageous location of Chittagong is of great interest to investors. There are several banks in the city. Twenty kilometers from the citys business center is the international airport at Ammanhant International Airport.

The first records of Chittagong date back to the 1st century. In the second quarter of the 14th century, it was claimed by Fakhrukhrudidin Mubarak Shahum. According to his decree, the road from Chittagong to Chandepur was laid. In 1666 the city was occupied by the Mongolian army. In the second half of the 18th century, the Ost-Indian Company held the power. During World War II, the Japanese repeatedly tried to take over Chittagong, but were defeated each time. In the ensuing period, the city was part of Pakistan, then reincorporated into Bangladesh in 1971.

In 1924, the city established the Foye reservoir, thanks to the help of the railroad administration. As a consequence, an amusement park grew up right next to it. There is a park nearby. The Bayazed Baptist Church is represented by a large pond. Its inhabitants are a large number of tribes of riparians. There are several hundred of them.

In the old town, the Chapel of Chandapura, enriched by several domes, towers over the city. One of the oldest schools in the country is the College of Santiago de Chile, dated 1869. Not far from it is Mohison College, housed in an old building built by the Portuguese.
