Tanzania is home to the city of Dar es Salaam, the capital city of the region under the same name. It is the countrys largest economic center and its largest, most developed and significant population center. It has an important port in Tanzania. Although it is not the capital of the country, the city is often referred to as the city of Dar. Its name is translated as "World-Holiness&quot. ×Often the marginal area is a safe harbor for many ships. In the past there was a small village called Mizizim, which grew into a modern city. It was given its present name in 1862.

Dar es Salaam continues to be home to foreign missions and large ministries. There is an international airport and a railway station. ×Important motorways pass through the city. One of the most popular places for recreation is at Bower Bay (Old Bay). Not only can you enjoy the great outdoors, you can also do some spectacular fishing. In addition, the area is also home to the excellent beaches of Cunuchi and Rus Coutani. The season lasts a few months. It begins in early September and ends in March. Fishermen here can catch barracuda, marlin, and yellowfin tuna. Theres also a golf club and tennis courts for active recreation enthusiasts. Many visitors take part in water sports.

The magnificent riverfront promenade is adorned with alleys of coconut palms. Nearby are the Lutheran Church of St. Elizabeth and the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Interesting artifacts remain in the Museum of Archaeology. The cultural institution was opened in honor of King George V. In the hall of the History Gallery, there are exhibits that can be used to trace the countrys development from the colonial period to the present. The Art Gallery holds numerous works by local craftsmen, including works by painters and woodcarvers.
