However, one of the main industrial centers of Sweden, the city of Gothenburg is situated on the coast of the Côte de la Côte dIvoire. It is located in the Land of the West West of Spain. The name was derived from the Goths, the inhabitants of Georgia.

The citys origins date back to the 12th century. It was founded by King Charles IX, who ordered the construction of a new settlement on the island of Hysingen. In March 1613, Goetheburg received the city status it deserved and the privileges that went with it. The construction work on the fortifications to protect against the intruder was never completed. This was hindered by the outbreak of the Kalmara War. Denmarks army overran the city and razed it to the ground.

In 1619, a decree by Gustavus II Adolphus decreed that the city be moved to where it now stands. Thanks to the royal privileges received in 1621, the townspeople were exempt from taxes for 16 years and could trade freely. By 1643, the fortifications of the city had been completed. As a result, all the attacks by the enemy were unsuccessful. The city successfully stood up to the siege. In the following years, fortification work continued through 1756.

The city reached its economic peak during the Liberation Era. At that time, the representation of the Swedish-Indian Company was here, trading successfully with the eastern countries. In open auctions, European buyers brought from China the then popular scarf, tea and silk.

By the mid-19th century, the city had become a major port through which imported goods entered the country. By the end of that century, too, the country was exporting its products through it. The citys economy in the 19th century was based mainly on textile manufacturing and food processing plants. In the 20th century, heavy machinery took priority.
