Pnom Penh – the capital city of Cambodia. The city is situated on a muddy plain at the confluence of three rivers – the Mökkönigai, Tonjonçásáp and Bassac.

Pnomnoïn was founded in 1371. According to legend, the founder of the city was a woman named Penny, who saw a floating tree trunk of the lumbang tree in the waters of Mexico City. In the branches of the tree, she saw something shining. It was five statues of the Buddha: four of bronze and one of stone. The Pen decided to build a monastery on this site. A hill was piled where the altarpiece with the statues she had found was placed. Around this hill was built the monastery of Vatam Pnom. It was built as the monastery of Watha Pünönöm, which is a Khmer term for Mother Pünönöm.

The capital city of Pünönönöm «took it over in 1431. It was here that the King of Pontius Ant. moved the capital from Ángkór Òõhoma. The remains of the king and his family rest in Bath Pnomah. In 1505, the capital again «moves away» and Pnom Penh disappears from history for 3.5 centuries. It was not until 1866 that the King of Norway I moved the center of political power to Pneumonia, and the city has remained the unchanged political center of Cambodia ever since. The French colonial administration, established here in the late 19th century, promoted the development of Pnom Penh. In the 1920s, Pneumonia was called «Asian pearl. By the time the regime seized power in 1975, Polands population had reached 3 million. In 1979, the Vietnamese forces liberated the city from the Khmer Rouge. The repression of the Khmer Rouge left a heavy legacy for Cambodia and its capital city: by the end of the 20th century, the city was home to nearly one million people.

Most of the many attractions in Pyongyang are the legendary monastery of Wat Pnom (1434). Equally significant is the Cathedral Palace Complex (1434), rebuilt in 1866. The beautiful and beautifully decorated St. Georges Park is considered to be the official Royal Church of the Kings Benedict. The stupas of Kantha Bokha and the King of Norway Suramarrita are noteworthy. The famous market of Psá Thìyé, or the Yellow Market, built by the French, is one of the symbols of the capital city of Cambodia. Another symbol of Pnom Penh – the Monument of Independence.
