The city has a Tropical wet and dry climate climate characterized by warm to hot temperatures year-round, with little seasonal variation due to its proximity to the equator, though nighttime temperatures dip somewhat during the winter months from January to March. Temperatures typically range from 19 to 34 °C, rarely above 35 or below 17. The wet season lasts from May to December, and the dry season lasts from January to April of the following year. During December–February, it can get chilly during the night hours.
