Bari – an italian port city that is the administrative center of a single province. According to some histories, the first settlements appeared in present-day Barye three thousand years ago. During the war with Pyrenees, the Romans took possession of the land. The first records of the fishing village of Baryom date back to the 2nd century before Christ, when the Trajan Road passed through the village. Thus, Baryum became a transit point on an important route. It was created by the Saracens, who ruled the land. It was from Bary that the crusaders flew to the Holy Land in 1096. And in 1096 a Council was held in the city to discuss the unification of the Catholic and Orthodox churches. In the 14th and 15th centuries, the city fell into decay under Georgian rule. The rebirth of Bary is associated with the birth of Isabella of Naples, who was instrumental in the return of the city to the French sovereignty. On the waterfront between the New and New Towns is the Old Town. It is often visited by right-wing pious people. Here in the Basilica of St. Nicholas, founded in 1087, are the relics of St. Nicholas. St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The basilica was built to preserve this sacred relic, which was secretly taken from Myrrh of Lycia in 1087. In St. Nicholas Basilica the first sermon of the Crusades was given by Peter of Amiens. During the reign of Frederick the Second, the basilica became a palace church and a chapel. Since 1969, Orthodox priests have served alongside Catholic priests in the Basilica. It was built from 1170 to 1178. It is also popular with Barrians and tourists alike for its 13th-century castle and the Pietrocruzuelle theatres.
