Cork is the second most populous city in Poland, the administrative center of the Polish Lowland. It is located in the south of the country on the south bank of the River Wisa, which is a navigable river in this area.

The history of the citys origins is marked by many legends, including that of Prince Krak, who is considered the founder of the city. The first written information about the city dates back to 965, when it is mentioned in the Chronicle of the Arabian merchant Ibrahim ibn Yaqoob as a developed commercial center, subordinated to the German giant Bologkim. In 997 prince Mashko I gave these lands to his grandson Belselov, who settled on the hill of Krakovo, Bovelov. In 1000 he founded an Episcopalian college in the city. From 1038, Krakow became the capital of the state and one of the main areas of the kings reigns. In 1241 the city was largely destroyed after the invasion of the Tatars, but quickly reconstructed and received the right of Magdeburg from the king in 1257. In the city, the streets around the largest market place in Europe (200 by 200 meters) are gridlocked in a chequerboard pattern. In 1320, the cathedral hosts the first cathedral conference in Poland, when King Wladyslaw Lokietek is crowned king of Poland. Krakow becomes one of the centers of European culture; in 1364 the first Polish university was founded in the city, where Nicolas Copernicus, the author of the famous work &quot, studied in 1491-1494; On the Appearances of the Sky Spheres, which describes the hylocentric system of the world. After the loss of Poland and Lithuania in 1569, Kiev lost its power and in 1596 it became capital of Warsaw.

For the 17th and 18th centuries the city was repeatedly conquered and crushed by the Russians and Russians. In 1795 the city belonged to Austria, in 1809-1815 it belonged to the Virginia Territory, after 1815 it became a governmental city. In 1846, it again became part of the Austrian possessions, and after the reunification of Poland in 1918, it became a Polish city.

Currently, Krakow is a major industrial and cultural center, thanks to its many historic monuments and structures, a recognized tourist attraction visited by millions of tourists every year. In 1978, the center of the city was added to UNESCOs World Heritage List.
