The first settlement in Lublin was dated to the 6th century and was located on the Hill of the Lake. In the 10th century there was a wooden structure, which was later replaced by a stone one. It is mentioned in the Chronicle for the first time in 1198. The first Catholic church was built in 1260.

Already in 1317 Ljublján had received the Magdeburg right. In 1341, the battle between the King Kazimir the Great and the Tatars took place near Lublin, which ended with the victory of the Poles. In the 15th and 16th centuries, as a major trade route from Eastern Europe to the West, Ljubljana rapidly developed economically. In 1474 it becomes the capital of a single province. 1569 – the Polish-Lithuanian state of Poland came into being as a result of the Treaty of Ljubljana, which was signed in Ljubljana and is known in history as the Union of Ljubljana.

In the second half of the 17th century, the city gradually lost its significance due to a major epidemic, the siege of the Swedes and then the Russian armies that ravaged Lublin. The Great Northern War put a line under the Ljubljana Fair. Some improvement came in the 18th century, when by a decree of August ²² the city was equalized with Cracow. Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, Lublin was part of the Russian Empire, the proprietorship of the Principality of Warsaw, until it became part of the Kingdom of Poland in the Union of the Russian Empire until 1915. With the independence of Poland, Ljubljina was invariably a member of the Polish army. However, many structures have survived the hard times and are now popular destinations for tourists. The main attraction of the city – the Castle of Ljubljana, where the Ljubljana Unia was signed. It was built in the 16th century, although the castle courtyard still has the old buildings – the 13th century bell and the Chapel of the Chapel of the Holy Trinity. At one time the castle was the seat of the Polish kings. Other interesting objects are represented by the Archdiocesan Cathedral (1605), the Dominican Monastery complex (14th century), the Krakow Gate, the Old (15th century) and New (17th century) Structures, and the Trinitarian Tower (17th century).

Lublin has a large university: Katatoliksky, where the future John Paul II² was professor of moral philosophy and ethics in the 1950s, and the Marie Skléwsky-Courieri – one of the countrys largest universities.
