Tokyo – the capital of Japan and, by world standards, a relatively young city that is only 400 years old. In its short history, it has undergone many cataclysms: destruction, fire and war.
Modern Tokio is a huge megacity that has overtaken the nearby cities of Yokohama and Kawasaki. It is a city of contrasts that mixes ancient and ancient, Eastern and European cultures, ancient temples and stone jungles.
One of the main attractions of Tōkyō is the Palace of the Emperor of Japan. Considered to have many centuries of history, the area is now divided into two parts. In the western part of the palace, closed to the public, is the Imperial Palace, where the current Emperor of Japan, Akihichi, and his family and an assortment of his entourage reside.
The Eastern Garden of the Imperial Palace is now in its eastern part. The few remaining structures that remain today from the ancient castle and its stone walls were declared a national heritage of Japan in 1963 and are protected by the state.
The Tokyo Tower is one of the symbols of Tokyo. Built in 1958, it was the tallest tower in the world when it was completed. The Television Tower is as much the national pride of Japan as the Eiffel Tower – of France. It has two viewing platforms that offer a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and Tokyo Bay. Its a huge business, commercial and entertainment center with many shops and restaurants, a television station, a movie theater, a hotel and offices for major companies. On the 52nd floor of the complex, there is a viewing platform that allows a birds-eye view of Tocco.
The Meiyoshi Shrine, built in the early 20th century as a tribute to the services of the emperor, also deserves attention, as a tribute to the achievements of a major role in the countrys history and in bringing Japan out of the deep Middle Ages on a par with the worlds leading powers.
It would be a great mistake to miss out on the Asakucusa – one of the oldest and most important Buddhist temples in Tōkyō. The main building can be accessed by way of Nakamisa Street, which is essentially a long line of shops. It has been a tradition since ancient times to shop near churches, which is also the case here. And the range of items is very wide, from cultural items to clothing, food, and souvenirs. The assumption is that a person who leaves a temple in high spirits is bound to get something. Although tea appeared in Japan in the 13th century, the tea ceremony did not take on its final cultural and philosophical form as a mini-picture until the 16th century. In the tea ceremony, every little thing, every method, and every action has a meaning and a special meaning. It lasts for at least two minutes, either at the tatami or at the table.
Youkiji Market, the largest fish and vegetable market in Tōkyō, is a must-see. A special attraction is the five a.m. daily five a.m. cucumber auctions, an unforgettable spectacle that can be tasted as a delicious breakfast of freshly caught fish and cured sushi.
Tokyo – a city with an undisturbed atmosphere, quiet corridors and quiet ancient churches, the beauty of Japanese gardens and a super modern city infrastructure.
