The Argent – the historic, cultural, cultural and administrative center of eastern France. It is located on the Lake Leeuhe River, 30 kilometers from the sea coast. It wasnt until the 19th century that it recovered, becoming the center of Belgiums textile industry. The Netherlands currently has the largest number of supporters of independence in France.
ânhent is the birthplace of many famous personalities: the poet Matthewlynck, the Holy Roman Empires emperor Charles V and many artists and scientists.
In Belgium, only Antwerp can boast more cultural monuments than Ghent. The historic center of the city is of world-class architectural value. Its appearance is defined by the Beaufaurois Tower, the Castle of the Redelegation of the Counts of France (1180), the Castle of Gerard the Virgin (13th century), the two cathedrals of – St. Nicholas (11th-13th centuries) and St. Bavan (942nd century), with a central place given to the Ghent Altar, the work of Van Eyck. Quartet Pátártshól («nór of the priests») – A prestigious neighborhood with a large number of stores, shops, and boutiques that has retained its medieval look and is therefore considered the most popular among lovers of historicist architecture.
He is also famous for its museums, most of which are housed in administrative buildings and cultural structures of the past centuries. The Grants festival program is rich and interesting. The annual &Laquo;Ghent celebrations» are among the largest European events of this kind.
