Iocogama – the seaport of Japan, the center of the light-industrial and biotechnological industry, is a megacity within the vast Tokyo Sea region. Located on the Gulf of Mexico, the city attracts tourists with its unrepeatable architecture and the combination of a highly innovative and authentic society in a traditional Japanese style.
In the middle of the 19th century, there were two cities, Kanagawa and Yokokohama. Their reunification in 1858 and the founding of the sea ports – a turning point in the history of the city. By the beginning of the 20th century, Yokohama was already a major international port in Japan and a crowded city with railroads, electrical connections and pipelines. The tragic events of Yokohama are related to the unexplained phenomena of the Japanese islands. In 1923, the earthquake killed more than 20,000 inhabitants and left the city in ruins. In 1931, the city expanded by taking over the land in the window of the local river Öðómi. Yokohama experienced World War II destruction caused by air bombardments by the Allied Forces in 1945.
The ultra modern city of Yokohama is best viewed from the height of the 296-meter tall Landmark Tower, which offers a spectacular panorama from its observation deck. Nearby is the Ministry of Peace, or Port of the Future & dash; Yokohamas main business center, where the most popular restaurants, cafes, and shops are located. Panoramic views can also be seen from the 106-meter high Sea Tank Tower. Sanankaiyin Park, a museum under an open sky, features the ancient architectural monuments of Japanese architecture: the three-story pagoda, the Teosikakku House, the Ryungunsinkakku Villa, and others. The Chinese quarter is dominated by the Kantei Bö (1887).
In Yokohamas museums, the Maritime Museum, which leads to the port from the Port, and the Síin Yokohama Museum, are among the most popular. There is a large park, the Marine Park with the rare fauna of the Pacific Ocean, the Jephokököködimma Amusement Park with computer and computer game rooms, and the Hakköködimma Aquapark. The memorials to the Second World War are invaluable.
