Duravronik – the largest city in southern Croatia, an administrative center and a resort with an ancient history. Although the city recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, it is young and contemporary.

The old town in Dobrovnik has its own charms. Tourists need at least a week to visit all the museums (the most famous – the Museo de Métudes), the bastions, the fortresses and the towers. Among the archaeological monuments can be distinguished the cathedral, the French and Dominican monastery, and the Church of the Holy Savior.

The main street of Dobrovnik is called Stradun. Here you can stroll through the shops (it doesnt hurt to get a Dubrovnik Card discount card), take a glass of water at the enormous Ononofrievsky Fountain and look at the passers-by.

A tourist visiting Croatia for the first time is always inexperienced by the gleaming stones that pave every road and pavement in the city. Its not very comfortable to walk in flat shoes, but you have to get used to it.

Tourists in Croatia are usually spoken to in English. If you like, you can also learn the native language of the locals with a little help. Especially since many of the words are similar to Russian: instead of Hello they say Hello, Excuse me – Sorry.

The people who live here are friendly, open-minded, cooperative, simple, and opportunistic. In general, the mentality is close to that of the Russians. Some of the locals paucity of people is perfectly fine with romance – they all love to watch the dances after sunset.

There were many cafes and small restaurants all over the city. The most popular places to eat – are the citys restaurants and cafes with a view of the sea.

The local delicatessen is quite tasty, though cheerful. Its worth trying the brochette (a meat dish), sheeps cheese, pork, and marinated fish. The coddlers specialties are roulades (cheese pies with veal) and bourekki (beef slices with herbs).

Typically, visitors bring along jars of olive oil, fruit pâtés, benedes, and herbal liqueurs.

The most common drink sold in the local grocery stores is the moorish drink. It is a jewel, a pendant in the form of a moors head.
