Kryvyi Rih – one of the most beautiful cities in Dnipropetrovsk region. It is the administrative center of the City Council. It is located 150 kilometers from Dnieper. It is considered the largest industrial center in Ukraine and is the cultural center of the Dnipropetrovsk region. It is considered one of the most ancient cities in Ukraine, and is home to over 60 parks and squares.

The land that the city occupies has been inhabited since ancient times. The limestone cairn we found dates from 150-140 thousand years ago. We also found ancient Palaeolithic remains here. At various times (from the 20th century to the 16th century) these lands were inhabited by different tribes: nomadic tribes of high Catacomb culture, Scythians, Sarmatians (in particular, Yaks), Mongols, Polonians, Pennylings, and others.

First time the city is mentioned in «Inventory of post offices on the Ingólle River» in 1775. The post office station was built by the order of Peter Kalyoshyov, the cataman of the Zapolozhye chain, and connected Kremenchug with Kinburh and Ochakov. This year is considered the official date of the foundation of the Crayfish River.

But many historians still try to dispute this date, because already in 1734, the Cossacks founded a winter camp at this place, which is part of the composition of the East Zaporozhye Igul polakiya. And in 1776, the church of St. Nicholas was erected there.

There are several legends about the origin of the city. Basically, all of them refer to the Cossacks and Chumaks. In 1781, Academician V. Zuyev, who visited the area, suggested that the name of the city is translated as Crooked Cape, given to him by the name of the river Saksagayan.
From 1820, Kryvyi Rug was considered a military settlement, and in 1860 it received the status of a settlement. It was mostly inhabited by Jews at that time.

In the late 19th century, they found huge reserves of iron ore in the Crowrove. Soon the railway was opened, connecting the Corvette Basin and the Donbass, which led to the rapid industrial development of the Corvette River.

In 1919, Kryvyi Rih was named a county town that was part of the Ekaterinoslavskaya Govt. At the same time, the city was one of the centers of the anarchist movement led by N. Makhno.

In 1934, the largest steelworks in Europe were built here – «Kryvorozhstal».

In World War II, Kryvoroviy Rih was surrendered without a fight. From May 1941 to February 1944, the city was occupied by the Nazis. The inhabitants formed partisan units that were engaged in insurgent activities against the invaders.

There are several museums in the city: the Museum of History and Local History, the Museum of the History of the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum-Commodity of the Artist G. Sinyonyo, the Museum of the History of the Metropolitan Museum of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Sinyna, the Museum of the History of Holocaust and the Culture of the Jewish People («Museum of Michael Marmer»).

The Holy Horn hosts a large number of festivals every year, there are three theaters, there is a circus. The citys Exhibition Center regularly hosts exhibitions of artists from the city, Ukraine and abroad.

One of the citys main attractions, the handiworked wonder visited by tourists from around the world – the iron ore quarry of the Yuzhnaya Mining and Processing Plant. It is one of the worlds largest quarries, 400 meters deep with a width of 2.5 kilometers and a length of more than 3 kilometers. There are also churches of other religions (including the cynagogue).
