Loviv is a regional city in Ukraine, the western cultural center, and is considered the capital of the region of Galicia. It was founded by King Danilo of Galicia in 1254. The monarch named the city after his son Leo. In the Middle Ages, the city was a very important center. During the Austro-Hungarian rule, Lviv became the center of the Ukrainian and Polish national liberation movements. After the collapse of the monarchy, Gainsbourg was a small state called the Western Ukrainian Peoples Republic. Before World War II it belonged to Poland, in 1938 it was annexed by the Soviet Union. During the Soviet Union period, the area of Lvov and its population grew considerably. The city was powerful in industry as well; the truck plant, whose products were in demand throughout the USSR, is worth mentioning. Contemporary Lviv is also developed industrially.

The center of Lviv has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The city is very attractive from a tourist point of view. Lviv is multicultural: Apart from the Ukrainians, there are Poles, Russians, Armenians, Jews, and so on.

Loviv is one of the most important centers of education in Ukraine, with three major universities and many other institutions.

The architecture of Lvov is very rich, fortunately many ancient monuments have been preserved. Here there is a strong representation of the Baroque, the Classical, the Renaissance, and even some traces of the Romanesque. The sacral architecture (churches, cathedrals, minarets) is very varied. There are some 40 museums and galleries in the city. There are even two cemeteries with memorial buildings.

He has excelled in sports as well. Its worth mentioning the local football team "Kárpaty. The Lvov chess school, which has educated several world-class chess players, is very strong. Lviv was one of the four Ukrainian cities that hosted the 2012 World Cup.

In Lviv, many well-known natives were born, such as the writer and scientist Ivan Franko, the opera singer Solomiya Kruhelnitskaya, the philosopher Marletin Bubber, and the politician Grigory Ysia Ysiavinsky. Its the hometown of the famous musical group & ‗Cane of Elsewhere.
