Near the Alleghany region, near the Lake District, is the administrative and cultural center of Como, a single province. It is part of the region of Ëîìárdèÿ. It is believed that the ancient city has a Gallic origin. As part of the Roman Empire, it was transferred to the coast of Lake Como by the decree of Helius Caesar.

In 1127 the city was under the dominion of the dinces of Viscocointe and Sforza of Milan. In the first half of the 14th century, local people were engaged in the production of silk and silk. In the 70s, in the 15th century, book printing developed here.

The central part of present-day Komeo is occupied by the ancient Kauwur Square. The beautiful and stately Cathedral of Santa Maria Maggiore, made of white marble, stands out for all its attractions. It was begun in 1399 and completed 3.5 centuries later. This long work successfully combined the two architectural styles used to create the cathedral, the Gothic and the Renaissance periods. A testament to the citys old fortifications is the Porta Borte Victoria Tower, dated 1192. The oldest building in Como is San Cárpoforo, built in the 4th century. The structure occupies the site where the Church of Mercury rose. The 12th-century San Fédélé Basilica is in the architectural style of the European Middle Ages.

The villa of Ollomo, built in 1797 and owned by the Lords of Odezkalka, was a witness to the arrival of Napoleon and his army in the area. Many historic structures have been preserved at the site of Como. One of them is the Villa Carlotta, enclosed by the English gardens and the splendid sculptures on which Tormuldesen and Känova worked.

The characteristic feature of Como are the beautifully sculpted, luxurious villas, which extend along the lakes shoreline, surrounded by parkland. A spectacular panoramic view of the city is seen from the Barunate. The history of the development of silk production in Cômes is told by the museum exhibits in the factory. Many shops and boutiques offer discounted prices on traditional silk products.
