Lagos, Algarve

Overall Score

3.7

To the south of Portugal lies the seaport and the city of Lagouche, the capital of a single municipality. It lies on the land of the district of Faroux in the region of Algareva. The citys area is adjacent to the site where the fast Bancafrín River flows into the Atlantic waters. In the second half of the 20th century, tourism developed rapidly, and it served as the backbone of the citys economic stability. Its favorable climate, wonderful natural features, historic attractions, excellent beaches and developed tourism infrastructure attract thousands of tourists to Lagos.

The authentic local cuisine and the dishes offered by the local restaurants leave few people indifferent to the culinary skills of the professionals. The traditions of the past centuries are also reflected in the objects of art and the architecture of the city streets. Local wines are just as significant. A striking representative of this is the wonderful drink "Ìóóåêka". Another alcoholic drink, made from fruit berries, is popular with city dwellers and tourists. Most of the citys residents are employed in the service and tourism industries.
