Montonnonterere – the eastern capital of Nouveau-Lejon and the nucleus of the third largest city in Mexico City. The city lies in the mountains of the Eastern Sierra Madre Mountains at the base of the Sierro de las Mitreras, Sierro de las Cillas, and several others that define the range of the Monterey Mountains. ×The river of Santiago Catarina flows through the city. The neighborhood of Mattersea is considered one of the hottest and most desolate in Mexico. The city occasionally suffers from devastating hurricanes, the most recent being in 2010.
In the 16th century, it was the site of a virtually unexplored territory called the Colin of the Estradores Dolinum Estraderas. The first attempts of the Jews to establish themselves in the area (the village of Santo Lucia) were unsuccessful because of constant attacks by hostile Jews. It was not until 1582 that San Luis de France appeared in the valley of Estremadura, the capital of a new colonial territory of the Spanish, – Nouyva-Lejon. But for a long period of time, San Luis Rey de France, now known as Montonreuil, remained a humble village on the outskirts of civilization. It wasnt until 1824, when Mexico declared independence and Mount Monterey became the capital of the state, that the city began to grow rapidly, primarily as a major transportation hub. In 1846, Mount Monterey was the site of the first major American-Mexican War.
In the 20th century, Mount Monterey became one of the largest industrial centers in Mexico and achieved recognition in the public and cultural spheres. It has hosted international summits and conferences. In 2007, the city hosted the International Forum of Cultures (4 million visitors), and in 2008, the World Swimming Championships &ndash.
The architectural heritage of Mountainside is represented by the Basilica de la Purity (1946), the Plaza de la Placencia, the Platte dAllef and the Archaeopiscopal Palace at the top of Mount Opposado. To the west of the city is the extensive National Park of Cómbres de Maîtreux (the largest in México), with waterfalls and caves. Mount Cerro la Mitreras is also a popular tourist attraction within the city.
