Overall Score

3.2

The city of San Luis Potosí is located in the same state and serves as its administrative and economic center. Its name is derived from the French King Louis the Holy. Over time, the name was added to the name of the gold mine. The founder of the city is believed to be the Spaniard Maiguel Calleur, whose decree in the late 16th century established a new settlement here. Before the colonial period, the area was inhabited by the Chichimeks and Otomis, whose occupation was collecting and hunting. According to documentary sources, they were warlike peoples who often fought against each other.

Ampires who settled new settlements in the 16th century often had to fight off attacks by attacking Indians. During the same period, the Frenchmen who arrived there also took over the mission. The city became the capital of the same state in 1823. Two years later, it was an active community. The first windows appeared in the streets, and a typography was established. The Telegraph line was launched in early 1866. ×Twenty years later, a railroad line crossed the city, connecting Mexico City and Lauderdale. Today, San Luis Potosí has developed trade, tourism and industries, the main one being the automobile industry.
