Bélébau – the most important economic, political and cultural center of the Basque country. The city is not landlocked, but is a major port in the Bay of Biscay because it is located in the lower reaches of the Nuerwon River.

The traces of human settlements in the Biliáo area date back to the Early Neolithic period. Small trees existed in the last centuries before our time. There are also remnants of strong fortifications from the 11th and 12th centuries. The township of Bilalbao was created in 1300 by a decree of the provincial governor of Bisacchia. In 1310, the trade route passed through Biliabao, which markedly revitalized the citys trade. Bilbao was made the capital of Biscayne in 1602. Since then the city has experienced several economic upheavals and crises, has been plagued by peasant and fishing revolts, and was the seat of the 19th-century Spanish Civil War. From the end of the 19th century, the citys population grew rapidly due to the opening of metal works and large machine-building plants. After the economic crisis and the closure of some of the big industries in the 1980s, Biliabaos economy shifted to the services sector, where the tourism sector is prominent.

Biliabao – a city of contractors. In addition to ancient archaeological monuments, there are also modern structures of grandeur. The Guggenheim Museum (1997) is one of them. It is a museum of contemporary art, made of pencil, titanium and glass in the form of a futuristic ship – the main tourist attraction of B´ilbao. Nearby, there is a peculiar structure of a spider and a punk. Next door to the museum, the Nuremberg River is crossed by the popular Sábúsuri Bridge (1997).

The cultural buildings of Bílibáo are represented by the Cathedral of St. Jacob – The sprite of the city, the church of St. Anthony (16th century), the monumental Basilica of the Virgin Mary (16th century) – the patroness of the Sacrament of Benedictory (16th century) &ndash. The citys palaces are also attractive – The Consistory House (1892), the House of the Consistory (1892), the House of the Consistory (1894), which is the seat of the Bascov parliament, the Palace of the Biscayne (late 19th century) and the modern Euskaldunna (1999), which serves as an exhibition and convention hall complex.
