In the northwestern part of Romania, the city of Cluj-Napoca, the center of the county of Cluj, was located. During the period of the Roman invasions, it was occupied by a camp of the noncombatants called Nápka, which later became a settlement and then a city. Located at the very heart of the town, it is the center of Romanias culture. Its territory is a crossroads of many international routes. It is also home to monasteries and historic churches from centuries past.

The city was called Cluj until 1974, a name that originated in the 12th century. Many famous people were born or lived here. In February 1443, the future king of Hungary, Corwin Mathias of the Hunyadi family, was born in Cluj. During his reign, the country was a mighty power. In 1920, the scientist Emil Lucia opened the worlds first institute of medicine in the city of Rumania. The national hero Avraham Yancoux studied at the University of Cologne in 1848.

Nowadays, many cultural and educational institutions are active in Cluj-Napoca, These include houses of culture, a philharmonic hall, two opera houses, six museums, two puppet theaters, and more than 20 research institutes. The National Museum of Trianic History is considered the oldest museum in the country, founded in the 19th century. It was founded in 1920 by Professor Alexandru Barza. The gardens territory is divided into two parts by the river. Located on 14 acres of land, it is 400 feet above sea level. The vegetation is developing tremendously on various points.

The Transylvania Museum of Ethnography, founded in 1922, has more than 65,000 specimens on display. Among the many artifacts in the Museum of History is a metal monument that is more than three thousand years old. It was discovered in 1973 in the city of Judge.

The Banffy Palace is rightfully considered a great historic architectural monument. Built in baroque style, it is decorated with statues and sculptures. The art museum is housed in its walls. In the galleries, there are paintings by 18th-century artists of Transylvania.
