On the Black Sea coast of Romania lies the city of Constanta, a major port of the country. It is located in the same area and is the administrative center of the country. At present Constantine, some 500 years ago, the Greek colonists founded the trading village of Thoma, which was home to many different routes.

In the 29th century, the Roman colonists took over the flourishing village. Here the great poet Ovidius, who was sent by the Emperor Augustus in the 8th century AD, found his last resting place. During the Roman conquests, the city was named Constantinople, which is mentioned in the documents of 950. In the 14th century the city was conquered by the Ottoman Empire. The Turks were under the yoke of Turkey until 1878. As a result of the war of liberation it became part of Romania. Today, Konstantin is the largest port on the Black Sea.

The icon of the wonderful city is its iconic entrance, embellished with ships in full size. The citys streets are a series of streets with tall, modern architectural buildings on all sides.

The contemporary city has preserved its historic legacy from the past. Monuments of history can be seen at almost every intersection and on the citys waterfront, next to where the Turkish warships, Ancient Greek ships, and other historic models of maritime transport are anchored. The Museum of History and Archaeology contains exceptional archaeological finds that testify to the settlement of the area long before the arrival of the Greek colonists.

In 1885, Archbishop John Meninckou founded the Orthodox Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. The architectural style of the church is considered unusual for a cathedral of Orthodoxy. The interior of the church still has its own murals. The city has the same house as Monte Carlo – it was built according to the same drawings. Today, the structure is an architectural monument.
