Corralejo, Canary Islands

Overall Score

3.6

The city of Corralejo is located in the north of the Spanish island of Fuerteventura, which is part of the Canary archipelago. In turn, Fuerteventura is located near the small island of Lobos in the municipality of La Oliva, Spain, at a distance of 100 kilometers from the coast of African Morocco.

The volcanic island of Fuerteventura, washed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, is considered one of the oldest in the Canary archipelago, originating 20 million years ago. The island is 100 kilometers long and 31 kilometers wide.

Corralejo is the largest resort of Fuerteventura. Many tourist infrastructure facilities are built around the city. In addition, from the local port ferries depart to the neighboring islands of the archipelago. However, the main attraction of the resort is its golden sandy beach, stretching for 11 kilometers. Nearby there is also a reserve of sand dunes.

Tourists note that Fuerteventura is memorable for the lively resort of Corralejo with its beautiful beaches, the relatively deserted capital of Puerto Rosario, the lagoons near the towns of Cofete and Sotovento, the fishing villages that have grown along the intricately indented coastline, and thanks to wild goats and cheeky Maghreb squirrels.
