Singyejeju is a significant light industrial center in North Korea and the small capital of Pyongyang-Puketoktu. On the Ammonokokka River, it is bordered by Chinas Danyudong Township. There are several factories in Xingyezhou that specialize in the production of paper, textile, and fabric products. The city is also known for its forestry. It operates a shipyard, where mainly ships are being repaired. ×A major part of the countrys trade with China passes through the city.
The city takes its name from the city of Yueja, which was 11 kilometers from its outskirts. Sinojou gained its status as a large settlement during the period of Japanese rule. It began to develop as a port city when the Ammonokka River transported timber. After the construction of the Supinyung Dam, the chemical industry developed. The city suffered considerable destruction and loss during the Korean War. The waterfall, the hot springs, and the Tungun pavilion are some of the most notable features of the city and its surroundings.
