Tolucca de Legerde is the city of México and the center of the municipality of Toluca. The name of the city is translated in English as Place where the god Tholo lives. In 1861 the name of Mexican President Sebastian Leberde de Tejada was added to the name.
In a modern city with a developed transportation infrastructure, companies and firms operate in the textile, metal processing, paper and food industries. Cultural and educational organizations function. The international airport of Adolphe López Matthéos is located here.
The citys economic growth is enhanced by the extensive activity of the tourism industry. Tourists from all over the world come to Tologuca de Legerdo every year for their holidays. Before the city was founded, its territory was inhabited by tribes of the Macauers, Massachers, Maltesians, and Athetians. In 1478, the Meccican emperor Achayacquel took over Òëóëóæèâàì.
The Spanish conquistadors came to the present place in 1521. ×A short time later, in 1522, the city was founded. Initially, it was a small settlement. It acquired city status in 1662. The road to Mexico City was built in 1793. It became a capital city in 1830, when the city became a state.
The city is rich in historic attractions. The Museum of Fine Arts Museums features art and paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries. The rooms of the Museum of the Artist Jose Maria Velasco exhibits his best works. Here, in addition to the excerpts, one can see the environment in which he lived and created his works.
