On the banks of the River Rhine and the Main-Dunay Canal in Bavaria lies the German city of Erlangen. It owes its fame to the many subsidiaries of the Siemens Concern and the Friedrich-Alexander University. Erlangen is one of the centers of world-class medical technology development and production.
According to archaeological research and finds, the Rhine River area was inhabited for probably 2,000 years before our era. A few ancient tombs around the singing plates date from 1200 to 800 years ago. Documentary sources first recorded the existence of the small village of Erlang in 1002. It was at the crossroads of important roads that connected the Germanic settlements.
In 1063 the village, belonging to the principality of Bammerger, was given to Henry IV. As a consequence, the city was under the rule of the House of Höhner.The city suffered considerable damage and economic disadvantage during the tenth century of war. Many of the buildings were destroyed and damaged.
In 1686 the Guggenheims created a new city, Christian Erlang, south of the Old City. The streets of the new town were littered with baroque houses. There were many residents among the townspeople. The latest technology of the time quickly spread among the craftsmen. In the early 18th century, industries such as the coat, bobbin and quill industries developed here.
When the margraves palace moved to Erlangen, the city ceased to be profitable. The French court soon established itself here. It began to build palaces, a park garden, a theater, an art gallery, an art gallery, and a protestant church. In 1743, the university was founded, which subsequently played an important role in the development of Erlangen. It also hosts various festivals and celebrations, including the Poetry Festival, Poetic Festivals, and the Classical Music Festival, Classique à la Céuse.
