Huang-Huangan Autonomous Region of China is Bayhai, a famous resort, port and city with a developed fishing industry. In 1984, a settlement of 14 of Chinas 14 cities in the region opened up to the outside world. Among the neighborhoods, the most notable is Silver Beach, which has many hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, sporting equipment and beach amenities along its length.
As a trading and fishing village, Baiyehai was known as a village since the time of the representatives of the Jin dynasty, from 221 A.D.. During the reign of the Tang rulers, its territory was one of the leading points of the Silk Road. It is believed that the city received its name in 1662, during the heyday of the Qing dynasty. In translation, the name means North of the Sea.
Baiyei was granted city status in 1796. After the opening of the trading port in its territory, ships from Holland, America, Japan, Germany, Denmark and France came here. Foreign companies have opened banks, shops, and offices here. There were new buildings for businesses, schools, and churches. Shipyards were built and put into operation. Most of the old buildings can still be seen when you walk along Old Street.
