Chelyabinsk is one of the largest cities in Russia. It was a tank town during the World War II. The city became a millionaire in 1976.

There are several versions of how the name of the city came to be. One of the oldest explanations of the city is the word silәbe» a large, shallow pit; a Bashkir word. This is confirmed by the notes of the German traveler J. Gamelin, who visited the fortress of Chelyabinsk in 1742. There are versions that the citadel was named after the village on the river Selyabka. Others say that it originated from the Turkic root «seljabai» i.e.

Columbia was initially a small city. After the end of the construction of the Samara-Zlatoust Railway, the Trans-Siberian Railway went through the city. After a few years, Chelyabinsk was the leading market for meat, butter and tea. Villages began to form around the railway station. By 1930, the abrasives plant, truck plant, cement plant, and cement-smelting plant began operating in the city.

Most notable features of Chelyabinsk include:
-Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant, thanks to the TV series Our Nation.
-Chelyabinsks State Theatre of Puppets is probably one of the oldest in the Urals and Russia.
– The scenic collection & ‖The Tale of the Urals‖ was published in the Museum of Fine Arts. It appeared in front of the railway station in 1967.
– It was built by Alexander Nikolay Ponomeryov, who at that time was head of the masters school at the Academy of Fine Arts.
-Circle, a street where only pedestrians are allowed to walk.
-Memorial to Kurchatov, every night it is illuminated by projectors, and on holidays it lights up with its own atmosphere.
-The Opera and Ballet Theater. Glyinka. It was built in the spirit of classical Russian architecture.
-Monument to the professional nun, which is located in Kierwarka. There is a belief that whoever puts a coin in the head of the monument and lays it on the head, God will give good luck and good fortune.
