Rostov-on-Don is one of Russias largest administrative, cultural, industrial, and scientific and educational centers, a significant transport hub for the southern part of the country. It is located on the Don River and the eastern eastern European basin, 1,067 kilometers from the Russian capital.

The history of the city dates back to the time of the Visits of Peter I (1695-1696), who paid attention to a village with a spring, the name of which is &Laquo;Rich Folk». The official date of the founding of the city is 15 December 1749, when Elizabeth Peter the Great established the Òemerynicka frontier, which was to collect tariffs and duties on imported Turkish goods. In 1750 they built an outpost, garrison barracks and pakazas.

Next, in 1760-1761, the fortification was built to defend against the Turks, and the work was supervised by the military engineer A. I. Eggelman. And on April 6, 1761 the crenellation was named after Demetrius of Rostov and Yaroslavl. The citadel had the form of a star, consisting of twelve spheres. Its circumference was about 3.5 km and was between todays Chekhov and Krepostnoy, Gorky and Stanyslavsky alleys. The fort also had two outposts and two huge barracks, which were used as a rear base for the Russian troops. Crutches played an important role in the interlude of the Turks and Russians in the 18th century. The famous Russian architect Sturgeon took part in the planning and development of the city.

On August 9, 1797, the city was part of the Rostov county of the Novorossiysk Gubernia, and from 1802 it became part of the Ekaterinoslav Gubernia. However, until 1807 the center of the county was in Tagarinrog, until by a decree of Alexander I it was given the status of a county town. It started out as the city of Krepostov, then Rostov, and a little later Rostov-on-Don, to avoid confusion with the city of Rostov-Yslavlava.

By Decree No. 556 of May 5, 2008. Among its many landmarks the city stands out as the Cathedral of the Mother of God of Holy Mary, the cathedral of the Mother of God. It was built in 1885 by the famous architect K.A. Tonon. The beautiful white cathedral is adorned with gold ornaments, making it a landmark of the city.

The Church of the Armenian Monastery of Surya Khachy, built in 1786-1792, is also notable. The monastery is a monument of national importance. Currently, the monument houses the Museum of Russian-Armenian Friendship.

The Church of the Holy Cross was built at the burial site of Armenian leaders and Soviet soldiers, and is a memorial monument.

The Sennagogue – it is the only working Sennagogue in the city. Many people consider the building to be modern. There are facades around the building that enclose the window openings.

The 25th anniversary monument to the glorious reign of Emperor Alexander II will be of particular interest. The monument was founded in 1894.

The Rostov Regional Museum of Local History. It maintains an iconic archaeological collection, which is still being enriched thanks to excavations throughout the country.

The Rostov Museum of Fine Arts holds more than 6,000 artifacts. The museums collection includes modern, ancient Russian and European art.

The Botanical Garden of the University of Rostov & dash; one of the largest in Russia. It is located in the northwestern part of Rostov, with an area of 160.5 hectares and about 6,500 specimens of shrubs, trees and herbaceous plants.

The Rostov Park – is a huge world of animals with 5 components. It includes both common animals such as lions, behemoths, and rare animals such as rattlesnakes and white behemoths. The zoo also has a theater with a variety of reptiles from different continents. Not far from the theater are the picturesque windows, of which there are four atlantines holding a cupola. A modern feature of Rostov is on the bank of the Don River, where Levemberdon is also located. This is where the nightlife of Rostov-on-Don is located.

The citys flag is a straight-lined band of «Golden Cross; is made up of urban gerber flowers that vertically divide the plaid into two identical parts, arranged on the outside of the tree in the following order: blue and red. Blue signifies glory, honor and loyalty to ones traditions, and red signifies courage, valor, bravery, valor and manhood.

ââ¬ËœThe city charter was created in 1811, which was changed in 1904 and reinstated by city officials in 1996. In the blue field there is a tower showing the defeat of enemies, and in the red field there is a gun trophy showing the victory against enemies.
