In the north-east of Chinas Hebei Province lies the city of Tangshan. To the north of the citys territory lies the Yangshan Mountains. The area to the east and south of the Yangshan Mountains faces the coast of the Bay of Bay. The name of the present city is derived from the former name of a mountain elevation located in the center of the city.

Ancient archaeological research on the area shows that humans were present in this area during the Neolithic period. The first settlements here were founded during the reign of the Tang dynasty. During the tenure of the Minh representatives, there was an intense exploration of the mineral deposits found in the region, as well as the production of ceramic objects.

In the late 19th century, the first industrial enterprises with foreign technology began to develop in Tangshan. The present-day city received its present name in 1889. It did not achieve city status until the following century, in 1938.

The city is the first city where a coal mine began operating. The Tangany plant produced the countrys first steam train. The first line of the railroad track was also laid here. It is quite legitimate that Tangshan is known as "the Cradle of Modern Chinese Industry.

Tangshan has recently been the recipient of a new and unusual feature, the Clay Cultures Park. The number of clay tiles on the park grounds is up to a couple of thousand. All of the figurines made by the sculptor Öine Chipina are made of clay, including structures, animals and people. All of the sculptures are 2/3 of the original size.

Most notable among the historic features is the collection of the mummies of the genus Öndernin. The complex has been well preserved to this day and was listed in the famous list of UNESCO. The ancient structures are part of the Great Wall of China. The townspeople of present-day China cherish their ancestors. It is a place where folk groups often perform, and where numerous festivals of folk songs and dances take place.
