The Canadian city of Federal Precinct is part of the province called New Britain and is considered its capital. It was named for the second son of King George III of England.
Before the white colonists came to the city, the area was inhabited by Indian tribes of the Malessites and Mickamacs. These tribes were engaged in farming and hunting. In the middle of the century the area was colonized by the French and was called Acadia. Practically at once, the Anglo-Americans, who were trying to annihilate all the competitors in North America, attacked the company. ×A short time later a fort named Fort Nashuaq was established at the confluence of the rivers St. John and Nashuaq. In 1700 it was destroyed by invasion and abandoned. Thirty-two years later the Acadians founded a village called St. Anne. In 1759 it was burned by the English (as part of the Acadian Genocide carried out by Britain). Three years later, the Anglicans tried to establish their own settlement, but they failed because the surviving Acadians were still partisan. In 1784, Faurichentic became the capital of the province of New Borrowing. After another year, the above-mentioned city became the center of the county of York.
The economy of Fairbanks is based on textiles and timber processing. But later they went into decline, and as a consequence, the citys main employers are the provincial government, the University of New Brunswick and hospitals. Today, the city is the center of communications and information technology.
