The Salt River Valley, which runs through the Sonora Basin on the South Fork of the Colorado Plate, is a natural basin called Phoenix. It is a sunny, hot place known as the «Valley of the Sun. There are more than 300 sunny days a year in Phoenix. The people of the city are proud to be Finns. The city has been ranked the best city in the United States five times, not only for its military bases and state military installations and research institutes, but also for being one of the main drug trafficking hubs from Latin America to the United States.
In the pre-Columbian period the territory of the Solar Valley was inhabited by the tribes of the Hokkas, who had created an extensive network of irrigation systems there. The Europeans made their appearance here in the 17th century, when the Jesuit explorer Euseo Quino traveled through the Americas. The settlement did not come into existence until 1868. Thanks to its strategic position, Phoenix grew rapidly. The city is still a crossroads for railroads and railroads. In 1881 it was given city status, and as early as 1912 Phoenix became the principal city of Arizona. Its economic growth was marked in the 1940s, when it became the center of U.S. military industry. The economic and population growth has continued, making Phoenix one of the countrys fastest-growing cities.

Fiennix is a major golf industry center. Nearby Phoenix is Scottsdale (the capital city of Arizona) – with its Center for Art, the Museum of History, and the Tileys West Architectural Complex. It is interesting to see the MacAcocormic, which has a theme park and an autonomous railroad, the Grand Falls Falls waterfalls in a recreational area. The Sonora Grasslands are an attractive destination for lovers of hiking and extreme conditions.
