On the eastern edge of the state of Nabaraska lies the city of Omaaha, the administrative center of Dugulet County. It occupies part of the riverfront of the Missouri River. It got its name from the indigenous people of the Omaha tribe. Indians inhabited the area that now occupies the citys northeastern and eastern neighborhoods. In 2008, Omaha was ranked third among the top U.S. cities for quality of life. The settlement of this land by European settlers occurred in the mid-19th century, when settlers from the State of Aiowa moved there. Before that, the Indian chief, Logan Fountainen sold a large portion of the indigenous lands to the United States authorities. The area was then acquired and the state of Nabaraska was created. In the summer of 1854, it established the settlement of Omaha, which became a city within a few years. For a time it played the role of the capital. It was the administrative seat of Nebraska from 1855 to 1867.
In service in the second half of the 19th century, the railroad line connected Omaha with the Sacramento of California. Thanks to her, the city developed dynamically, welcoming small villages to its outskirts. ×The number of its inhabitants increased every year. By the mid-19th century, it was one of the countrys transport centers, and as a result it was given the unofficial name of Gateway to the West. In contrast to those times, the city has developed engineering and architectural firms, technology centers and a tourism industry. It was originally named Par Riverview. It is home to nearly 1,000 species of animals and has the largest cat complex of any in Northern America. The city attracts tourists with its many events.
