Territorially, Saint Louise is part of the state of Missouri, but it is an independent city that is not part of any county of the state. The citys environs – the hilly prairies. Being within the borders of «Alley of Nicaragua» Saint Louis is subject to hurricanes (winter – fog), cold winds from Canada, and warm currents from the Gulf of Mexico. Thats why the climate here is moderately constitutional.

Before the city was founded, the area of St. Louis was inhabited by a culture of turgon builders, who left behind a large number of similar structures. Because of this, Saint Louis is often referred to as a city of cougars. 1763 – the beginning of the citys history. The French colonists founded the settlement in honor of the French King «Saint Louis -Louis IÕ. In 1803, as a result of the «Louisiana Purchase; St. Louis, with its vast French-Louisiana lands, became a possession of the U.S.A. From there, the famous expedition of Louisiana and Clark to the shores of the Pacific Ocean began in 1804. With the development of the Mississippi and Mississippi Seaway and the rapid influx of immigrants, St. Louis grew rapidly in the mid-19th century. In 1904, the Worlds Fair was held here for the 100th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase. The exhibition included the Games of the Third Summer Olympics. Since the 1950s, the citys population has steadily declined, with the unfortunate distinction of being the most dangerous city in the Midwest. Its 192 meters high, the tallest monument in the U.S. Very popular is Forest Park &nash; an area that houses several museums, a zoo, a planetarium, and a concert hall. Tourists can also visit several entertainment centers, the Botanical Gardens, and the sports arena in St. Louis. Near the city, a unique complex of 109 hogs – the Kahokoquia. These are remnants of the remains of the pre-Columbian city – the center of the culture of the farmers. Especially the 28-metre Monks Mound stands out.
