Laudeyette is a European-American city along the Vermillion River in the southeastern United States and is the center of the County of Laudeyette in the State of Louisiana. The Vermillion River runs through the center of the city of Lafayette. There are other unique waterways in the city: Isacaque Coulie, Coulie Maillie, Coulie de Poches and Coulie de lIsle de Canne.
It was founded by Jean Mouton in 1821 and was originally called Vermiliononville. In 1884 the town was renamed in honor of General Lafayette, the notorious Revolutionary War fighter who was a major contributor to the victory of the American Army during the American War.
The citys economy was originally based on agriculture until the oil and gas industry developed. The city is one of the centers of education, including the second-largest university in the country, one municipal college and two technical vocational colleges.
This unique city is the famous Acadian Village Center for the Arts. The citys landmark is also the National Jean Lafayette National Historic Park and Preserve. The park is named in honor of Jean de Lafayette, a French-American pirate known for the liberation and independence of New Orleans from Anglo-American occupation in early 1815. It is thanks to this courageous pirate and his team that they were able to stand up and win in this unequal and bitter contest. Given the peculiarities of Jean Loafayette in the park, the citys famous French Quarter, the oldest neighborhood in the city, also known as Vieux Carré, commemorates his exploits. This area is known as the National Historic Landmark, with its many architecturally unique buildings.
You can also visit childrens museums, beautiful parks and zoos. Lafayette is known for its outstanding nature preserves, where you can delve back in time and trek through eclectic trails, trekking through wilderness areas of leafy woodlands. The sanctuaries can book a special tour of mysterious and unique natural places.
