This warm and welcoming Midland is located in the western part of Texas, between Fort Worth and El Paso on the interstate I-20 highway. For its skyscrapers, it is called the High City. It is the center of the oil-producing and oil-processing industry in the state. It has its own international airport a few kilometers from the city, which also serves passengers going to neighboring Odessa. In 2014, Mydède Airport was the first airport in America to receive a license to operate private space flights.

In the late 19th century, it was known as the Midway station on the Pacific Railway between Fort Worth and El Paso. This geographical feature gave its name to the future city, which in translation means a middle area. By the beginning of the 20th century, it was the countrys largest supplier of foodstuffs. Mylands life changed dramatically with the discovery of the oil fields in the Perm Basin in 1923. From then on, the city became the administrative center for oil field development in the Western Texas. Todays Milan — it is a fast-growing industrial city with the lowest unemployment rate in the country.

In addition to the oil rigs, the countrys telecommunications, distribution and education sectors are all active. It is one of only three universities in the state to have a bachelors degree in applied technology.

In the outskirts of Myland, the Petroleum Museum of the Permian Basin is one of the only universities in the country to have a bachelors degree in applied technology. There are numerous exhibits that illustrate the history of the oil industry in the region. The museum also has a display of race cars by designer Jim Hall, who pioneered the use of aerodynamics in the bodywork of Formula One race cars.

The Museum of Local History has an archaeological record of an artifact found on the outskirts of Myceland in 1953. It is a skeleton of a woman, 11 to 12 years old, who may have been the common ancestor of all the continents Indians.

The Aviation Museum contains a collection of artifacts and memorabilia from World War II. Visitors can see dozens of warplanes in its anhangars.

With other attractions — the Museum of the Childhood of the President of the United States George Bush, the McCook Art Gallery at the Campus Miracle College, and the Théâtre de la Tête-être de lArt-Deco.
