Ranonok is located in a single municipal area. It is divided almost equally by the river. The community is surrounded by the neighboring cities of Seychem and Binton. Despite these features, it is administratively part of a single county. The park is known as the cultural and commercial center of Virginia. It was founded in the mid-19th century and was originally called Beagle Look. The name was derived from the enormous seams of salt that lay on the surface of the land. In general, it was expanded at the expense of neighboring estates. The last regional reorganization took place in 1976. The area that now encompasses the city was crossed by the Great Ferry Road with an intensified traffic flow in regional times. The railway was the most active in America and went from Philadelphia to what is now modern-day Rhône. The beginning of the economic transformation of the city was associated with the opening of the railroad. After that, factories began to be built there. One of the first was opened by the company «American Viscose».
