Burblington is a city in North Carolina, the administrative center of Alemany County. In 2008, the city had 50,857 residents. Burlington is located between the cities of Greensboro and Durham.

The town was founded thanks to the North Carolina Railroad Company, which needed repair shops to maintain trains. In 1857, the settlement of Kompany Shops was established. In 1886, the railroad company moved its facilities to Virginia, and in 1887 the town’s residents renamed it Burlington.
