Cape Coral, FL

Overall Score

3.6

Cape Corral is located in the State of Florida, in the Western District of Lee County, on the shores of the Marlott Bay of the Gulf of Mexico. To the east and south, the city is washed by the Caloosatucky River,  bordered by the city of Fort Myers and Matthalaca.

The history of Cape Corral began in 1957, when two brothers, Léonard and Jack Rosen, decided to buy a plot of land to develop their nonrepublic town. In 1958, rapid and planned construction began. Because the soil was  polluted, a large number of channels had to be dug, and houses had to be built on high ground. The city grew up fast and eventually became known for a huge number of artificial waterways, many of them judicial, and for renting out quality housing. Cape Coral is mostly water-prone, with a tropical climate and most rainfall in the summer, and the city is regularly attacked by major hurricanes from June through November.

In its earliest years, Cape Coral was little known, boring, and not attractive to tourists. It had to do with the people of a certain age who came there for the purpose of having fun. But since 1990, the status and values of the city have changed dramatically, as it was during that period that the city became popular with young families.

The warm climate and the waterfront environment of this sunny city has promoted the development of water sports, fishing, comfortable and exotic beaches. Thats why Cape Coral is especially popular with active vacationers. Yacht Clubs offer a unique opportunity to provide an unforgettable experience for thrill-seekers, sportsmen and romantics. The city is also known for its  golf courses and tennis courts.

In the evening, tourists can choose from a wide variety of nightclubs and sophisticated restaurants for every taste. You can also visit museums, where visitors are especially attracted by the artworks, souvenirs, and crafts of local artists. The historic museums offer a glimpse of the citys  historic treasures.

People who enjoy peace and quiet are attracted by the quiet parks and nature reserves of Cape Coral, where they can get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
