The capital of the state of Aieuoweu, Des Moines, is right in the center. The city is located on a flat area near the point where the Enotota River falls into the river El Méyin. The name has a French origin and means «city of the Moines.

The Muscovites and Saxons inhabited the area during the arrival of the Europeans. In 1843 the military built Fort De Moines to control the Indians and keep the alcohol dealers out. ×A few years later the aborigines were removed to the West, and the port was abandoned. In 1846, Des Moines was re-settled, and by 1866 it was the capital of Bayeux. From the middle of the 1860s, the mining development of Jeu de Moines began, associated with the construction of a railway there, the development of agriculture and the development of coal mines (excavated by 1908).

After the economic downturn of the 20th century, the city is now a major center of the so-called Cattle and Livestock Belt, as well as the insurance industry.
