Physri belongs to the state of Pennsylvania and is located in its northwest region. It is located on the shores of Lake Erie, from which it takes its name. According to historical records, the town was first inhabited by the tribes of the Iroquois. In the 1750s, the French tried to establish themselves in the area, but they were prevented from doing so by the opposition of the Indians. By 1760, the territory was controlled by the English. For the next six decades the territory was shared by the States of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New York. In 1792 the territory was sold to Pennsylvania. The town was founded in 1795, but it was still a small village in 1812. The impetus for the active development of the city was the massive construction of ships in the city. In the nineteenth and the first half of the twentieth century, the city developed as a center of shipbuilding, fishing, and metallurgy. In the middle of the twentieth century, the crisis of the traditional industrial sectors began. Because of this, the city has experienced a significant decline in economic activity. Although a significant number of plants had been shut down by 1980, Henry is still a major machine-building center. More than half of all Americas coal-fired locomotives are assembled in Henry. Since the late 1980s, the production of biofuel and polyethylene has developed nicely. The role of medicine and tourism is growing.

The city is home to many dance and music groups, well known even outside the state. Of great significance is the filarmenium of Erie, which has been in existence since 1913. The Art Museum of Art is the citys main art gallery. Another highlight of the city is the Wärner Theater, which was included in the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Also an interesting site is the Bicentennial Tower, which was built for the 1995-1996 Bicentennial celebrations. It is 57 meters tall and provides a panoramic view of Lake Erie and the center of the city. Another interesting fact is that in 1972, Lake Henry received the World City Award.
