The capital of the State of Michigan is the city of Lancing, located at the confluence of the Red-Cedar River and the largest river in the State &nash; the Grand River River. Within the city limits are two lakes, Park and Lanning, whose shores are a recreational area for local residents.

The area of Lanning was overgrown and enclosed by dense forests during the period of colonization. The area was first explored by the traveler Hugh Wrawood, who sailed the Grand River in 1790 in a canoe. In 1830 these lands were put up for sale, but no one was willing to take them. The situation was changed by two brothers from New York City. After buying the land and calling it Bible City, they set up a marketable campaign in the town of Lanning, New York City, to sell plots of land in the Grand River area. The 16 people who were able to be gathered were very disappointed to find themselves in Biddle City in 1836 because there were no roads and the rivers were pouring away for months at a time. ×Some of the displaced moved back, while those who stayed started to reconstruct themselves. They named it after their hometown – Lanning.

In 1847, the state moved the capital of Michigan to Lanning and even wanted to change it to Michigan City. But the name didnt stick. At that time the population was mostly engaged in farming. In 1897, the worlds first automobile plant with an assembly plant appeared in Lansing. The automotive company & Company & Youngsmobile & Company, later part of the General Motors Corporation, has defined the development of the city for several decades. In the wake of the U.S. auto crash, which Lebanon experienced relatively unscathed, the citys focus is on science and education and the development of modern technology. There is also a large number of people working in the public sector.

Land has plenty of places to relax: parklands, historic buildings, museums, art centers, sports complexes, restaurants, clubs. The city has a few internationally renowned citizens. They are basketball player MacJack Johnsons, actors Burt Reynolds and Stephen Seagull, and Google co-founder Larry Paget.
