New Haven, CT

Overall Score

3.7

The city of New Haven sits on the shores of a single waterway. It has a major port, a watch, electronics, ammunition, firearms, instruments and industrial equipment manufacturing plants. The chemical industry and instrumentation has developed. J. Bush Jr. was born in New Haven, and subsequently became 43 U.S. presidents. Among the countrys most prestigious universities is the University of Helena, which began its work in the 18th century. Its alumni include some notable figures, including five U.S. presidents and 49 Nobel Prize winners.

The citys founding fathers are considered Anglo-American Protestants from the Massachusetts Bay Area. ×Some of them moved back to their former places and formed a new team. The city was laid out in a design called "Nine Squares," with interconnecting crosswalks. Each quarter of it was a square. Now, the Old Quarter of New Haven is an historic center where historic buildings and architectural landmarks are preserved and the main architectural values are concentrated. Citizens live a rich cultural life. The Yale Theater is always full of spectators. The most popular festival is the Jazz World. Equally popular are the citys museums, which are appealing with their attractions and interpretive exhibits.

Walking through a historic city can be done in any season of the year, which the mild weather allows. Temperatures rarely drop below freezing during the winter season. Moderately warm weather is pleasant without the numbing and exhausting weather, as evidenced by an average temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius.
