Olympic – a city in Washington, D.C., but even among the cities in the state, it is a small city. Olémia is located in the southern part of the Bay of South Sound, at the confluence of the Deschutes River.

The original inhabitants of the area – the Suquemish Indians. In 1792, the first «white;explorers in the form of the George W. Vanquouwer expedition were sent there. The occupation of the land began in 1841 with the appearance of the market. It became a permanent settlement in 1846. In the first years it grew due to settlers who came to the area by the Oregonian Way. In 1853 he was given the name of Olémium in honor of the church of Olémium, which is not far from here. It then became the administrative center of the territory of Washington, and has remained so, even after it was reorganized as a state.

There are no large industrial companies in Columbia, and the city develops through the state sector and education. Tourism – one of the most important components of the citys economy. It offers excellent opportunities for active recreation (hiking, yachting), and it also offers guided tours to the surrounding national parks and nature reserves, where the unique wet wet belts have been preserved.

In this area, the citys economy is one of its economic pillars.
