Palemdale lies in Los Angeles County, known as one of the countrys fastest-growing settlements. It occupies part of the High Plains, which is why winters are windy and cool, and winters are characterized by high temperatures and infrequent droughts. The rainy season is during the cold winter season. The city is known for its aerospace industry. Next door to it is Lancaster, whose territory is adjacent to the Pauldale area. Within the city limits is an artificial reservoir (Manual Lake), part of the municipal water system.

For the past couple of decades, the city has been regarded as a community with a high quality of life. The Regional Medical Center, which opened in 2010, is here. It has several buildings and a flight deck. Since 2005, a new transportation center has been operating in the city, serving the rail and bus lines. The citys park and recreation areas have recently been expanded. It includes a 10-seat amphitheater, two pools and a park.
