In the north-east of the country lies the city of Portland, the administrative center of the county of Cameroon. It is considered one of the most comfortable places to live in the U.S. It is made up of 30 neighbors, but each of them has no legal authority. The territorial division was at one time called for by the citizens. Many of the non-professional institutions have local associations that maintain contact with the city government. In 1899, Portland was made up of the neighboring city of Dearing, adjacent to the northwest border. In the course of its existence, the city has been subjected to several destructive fires, but it has been repaired. A peculiar symbol of his difficult fate is the image of the figurine on the city seal and the inscription on the cymbals, which in translation means I shall rise again, which means I will rise again.

The peculiarities of todays climate are rainy summers and snowy winters. They are caused by the sea climate that dominates the area. Before the Europeans were in the North American territories, the coastal area of the Cascos Bay was home to the ruggedly beautiful village of Mexico. With the arrival of the Anglicans, it became a small settlement of settlers. Over time it became a town called Fálmouth. In 1676, after vigorous attacks by the Indians and local battles, the settlement was almost entirely exterminated. ×A few years later it was rebuilt, but it was soon attacked by enemy tribes and destroyed as a result. Since then, new buildings have appeared in its streets.

In the fall of 1775, many of the buildings were damaged by the shelling of the English. Eleven years after this event, part of the town of Fálmouth was separated from the city to become a new settlement, subsequently called Portland by the inhabitants. After the state of Maine was founded in 1820, it was its capital for 12 years. After the loss of its high status, it became the economic center of the state. In spite of the devastating fires, it attracts with its architectural values. One of them is the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Its spire, looking upward, is known as an important panorama of Portland.
