Stuýmoford — a city in the county of Fairfield, Connecticut. The earliest European settlers originally named the town Rapidovam; later, due to certain historic events,  the name of the town was changed to Stathamford  in honor of the English town of Stathamford. In 1637, a group of London merchants and their family members moved to Boston to establish a new settlement. In 1640, a confederation was formed called the United Colonies of New England. John Davenport (an Anglo-Puritan priest and founder of the Américan Colony of New Haven)  has signed a treaty with the London merchants  to incorporate the Colony of New Haven into the Connecticut.

In 1692, Stathymphoord  was declared by his courts to be a witch doctor. The hunt for witches  involved the search and execution  of people who were suspected of being witches. Beginning in the late 19th century, when the city was growing economically, New Yorkers began to build houses on the shoreline, and even then there were some who moved to Stemford as permanent residents. Today, Stathamford is a center for education, with branches of the University of Connecticut, the University of Bridgeport, several state universities, private schools and the Academy of Information Technology.

The city has many parks to visit, one of which is  Cammings Park  a public beach. The park, founded in 1906, is named for the citys mayor. It is known for its exotic beaches and specially designed exotic places for  picnics. The park is a small wildlife sanctuary, which may be of particular interest to ornithologists. Stemford is also known for its specially designed parks, which can be used for a variety of sports,  even ice hockey. For example, Jackie Robinson Park is named after basketball legend Jackie Robinson, who lived in Stemford.

The citys  museum is a popular tourist attraction, where visitors can explore not only the history of the city, but also its art. Stemford is known for its  spectacular golf courses, such as Americas famed  Sterling Farms Golf Course, which opened in 1972 and is a favorite tourist destination. The town is also home to a yacht club and an exotic botanical garden with unique plants from around the world.
